A Colorful Take on Tradition
This Brookland home was expanded with a two-story addition that creates more generous living spaces for a growing family. While the addition provided the space the family needed, the interior design gave the home its distinct personality. Deep, saturated colors, unexpected wallpapers, and rich textures are layered with traditional tile and lighting, creating an elegant interior that feels both sophisticated and distinctive.

The kitchen balances dark gray cabinetry with warm off-white uppers, creating a backdrop for some of the home’s more distinctive details. Concrete pendants introduce an unexpected materiality, while a chevron marble backsplash brings a more traditional element to the composition. Between the kitchen and formal dining room, the palette deepens in a charcoal butler’s pantry, where whimsical wallpaper creates a dramatic moment of transition.
Bold Moments for Small Spaces
Smaller spaces offered an opportunity to take more risks with color and pattern. In the powder room, oversized colorful florals create an immersive backdrop, while the butler’s pantry takes a moodier turn with a graphic white wave pattern set against a dark background. These more dramatic, intimate spaces create a striking contrast with the bright, neutral palette of the home’s larger living areas, bringing moments of color and surprise throughout the interiors.
